quick update

hey guys and gals,

well, after that crazy night the next was kind of plain. we heard from locals that the good place to go to was core. we turn up their and the bouncer says it is full. then the door opens and there is a guy carrying a girl out of the bar with her friend holding her hair back. she wasn't moving, we decided we have never seen someone so drunk in all our lives, after a while talking to the conscious girl and the guy we all decided that this wasn't drunkenness, this was drink spiking, it makes me furious!! her friend didn't seem too concerned as she was taking photo´s of her friend laying barely conscious on the ground. we left after the girl made a couple of movements on her own, back to the hotel and watched anchorman. the next day we get up at around 9am and i had only managed to get 1 hour sleep for some reason, i just couldn't get my brain to shut off as i had a million things going through my head. we get to the train and we are headed for Nice with a quick stop at Juan Le Pins. we get of at this little destination and walk towards the beach, it was beautiful, touristy but at the same time not, if you know what i mean, like the infrastructure was their to support many many more tourists that their were so it was kind of peaceful. we decided to stay for only 45 minutes till our next train but ended up staying 4 hours, swimming in the pristein Mediterranean sea, eating perhaps the greatest muscles of all time in a restaurant on the water front, laying out in the sun on long beach lounging chairs, dozing off to the sound of the tiny little waves coming up the sand. it was a wonderfully refreshing place and we all agreed we needed it after being in so many large cities, such as NY, LA, London and Munich etc.. the water is very calming and the salt is good for you.i bought a cheap pair of sunny´s, got the price from 15 to 5. we were sad to leave Le Pins but we wanted to press on to Marseilles. after staying in Marseilles for two days in hindsight we would have much preferred to stay in Le Pins, sleeping on the beach. Marseilles is an ugly smelly little capital of corruption and filth. other than a fort on the neck of the bay this city has nothing but hustlers and open sewage. we were stalked by this big black guy who looked identical to Djbril Cisse (football nuts will know him, i´m looking at you Marcus and Aidan). the night life was dead by 10, not that it had much of a pulse before that.in two nights the hottest spot we could find contained 4 french guys and one Maurie turned french guy, we spent maybe 30 minutes watching them taking it in turns to touch some box hanging from the ceiling: in case your wondering, the mauri guy couldn't touch it but three of them touched it every time and the last Frenchmen took 4 go´s to get it.... see this was the highlight of Marseilles. our friend mike who was leaving us to make the 60 something hour trek to Croatia waited at the train station for about 5 hours rather than venture out into the cesspool.. OK maybe i am over reacting but we were having so much fun bagging the city that i think we hate it a little more than is necessary, but i don't suggest anyone go´s there, go around it. we finally get on the train and go for 6 hours to port bu, in this cramped little train, i got some sleep somehow, and when i wasn't i was reading ¨one flew over the cuckoos nest¨ ´then we waited at this random port bu for an hour and then got on one more train and landed in Barcelona, very relieved. we got here at around 10am so had the day to check it out. we walked up and down the main drag for a bit, then went to Camp Nuo (another one for Marcus and Aidan) Barcelona football clubs home ground, we took the tour and got to go inside the stadium, took some photo´s and then went to the football museum and looked at some memorabilia from Barcelona´s football history. it is now 5:55pm and i am about to go to the hostel to have a late siesta, i will need my energy for tonight, barca is the home have partying and we are going to have a BIG one!! we got about 5 places to go to, finishing of in this one club which has 5 floors, different themes and music types on each floor, then we might go to this salsa club and finish the night with some hip moving Spanish dancing under the quite lights of early morning, but plans never stay the same as the night go´s on so who knows where we will end up.

Jake.

p.s. today on the train we saw a guy going through some wallet he had obviously pick pocketed, since he did not look like a young English women

Jakage,

I know you have your wits about you, but trust me, with all your drinkin' and a partyin', sleeping on teh trian is not a bad option but that's when you'll get rolled. If you travel as a group, try to have one of you stay up...

Train stations are a logical spot for rolling you too. Beware of touts trying to sell you crap- when they crowd about you, you'll find your bag opened and stuff missing. They'll steal yer damn dirty pants if that's all they can get.

..and don't get fancy ideas about beatin' four colours of crap out of them either- they usually have a spotter waiting for just that situation- and a king hit is coming your way.

Just make yourself the less attractive option- a group of lads together vs a woman on her own: sad but true- they'll take the gal (though you can be a gentleman and help- remember your uncle in Barcelona eh?)

Anyway- when are we going to see some pics for god's sake? Do you have one mate with you who can help? One net cafe with USB access?

Get to it Email me the pics if you can't work out how to get it live. Blogger resizes the pics for you, so login properly and uploa d pic or two..

regards
Tom
